Welcome
to the Brethren Assembly's Information
Pages

The
Brethren movement started in England in
the early 19th Century, and spread from
Plymouth to the rest of Britain, Americas,
Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Missionaries
played a large part in
reaching out to the then unknown world,
teaching the Word of God, setting up
mission schools, medical clinics, and local
Churches. In Africa alone there are about
4000 local churches, some with a
attendance of over 1000 people. India has
some 1000 Assembly's, and is very active
in mission work. Although there are some
differences in practice, the
Brethren hold on to all the fundamentals
of faith to which conservative Christians
subscribe. What distinguishes them is a
combination of Doctrines as follows:
Foundational Doctrines:
Bible Alone
The Bible is the sole source for all
matters of Faith and Practice (2 Tim
3:16,17)
Faith Alone
Faith
is based on the fact that Salvation can
only be obtained because of the Death, Burial
and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ. (Eph 2:8,9)
Grace Alone It
is only by God's Grace that he has made
a path in which we can be saved (Eph
2:8,9)
Christ Alone
There is Salvation in
none other but through the precious
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts
4:12)
Emphasis Is Placed Upon:
The Priesthood Of All Believers
All Christians need to
take part in the Local Church and
exercise the Gifts that God has given
them. (1Peter2:9)
The Autonomy Of Local Churches
Every local Church
(Assembly) is independent and not
subject to a hierarchal Mother Church
The Need To Evangelize
We need to spread the
Gospel to all nations, from within our Families. Communities
to the rest of the world. (Matt 28:18 -
20)
