Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it.
SENDING CHURCH
Coffs Harbour Bible Church.
Box 874, Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia
Pastor: David Mitchell
Thank you for sharing in the work here at Kitwe. And this we do for the gospel's sake, that we might be partakers thereof with you. (From 1 Corinthians 9:23)
We give all glory to the LORD Jesus for what He has achieved here in Kitwe.
O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
(Isaiah 25:1)
The LORD has provided for us to return to Australia in September. We will be taking the opportunity to give our three grandchildren a hug, spend time with John, visit some relatives and report to our sending church. Our time will be limited but we hope to visit some of our supporting churches. Pray for David Moyo, Fordson Swala, Boniface Katongo, Declan Nyamayawo and Danny Mwape as they lead in our absence
WORK AT CHEMBE
The church has had the privilege this year to be going over to Chembe with the Yembes every six weeks to play awana type games with the children, interacting with them and training the older ones to lead the games. In the afternoon there is football which always attracts many young men. There is a Bible lesson in the morning and afternoon given by our people. Most of the Chembe footballers are unsaved and nearly all of the children’s parents are steeped in their traditions and not at all open to the precious gospel.
BIBLE STUDIES.
Kapoto. After almost a year of weekly studies majoring on salvation, Alex and Maureen Bwalya both now believe on the LORD Jesus and Him alone for their salvation. Pray for the salvation of Mr and Mrs Pende.
Musonda.
-- Mr Chanda (Eneless’s Dad) is growing in the LORD.
--A couple, Maureen and Jamison.
OF LIFE AND DEATH
As I was leaving the church to collect Boniface and his two children to pick up his wife and their newly born boy, a man stopped me and requested if we would take a relative who had just died to the mortuary. It felt strange dropping the corpse at the morgue and immediately picking up the new baby. God is good.
Winter’s Sting of Death
Sad times for us this winter with death in many families.
Mwaba Phiri’s father after a week of flu has died. The night before his death he called in Jessy, his granddaughter (one of our young adults) and asked her to share the gospel with him. He repented and believed on the LORD Jesus.
Minivah and Nongwa’s father whose wife died last month, has also died. We had witnessed to him on many occasions. The afternoon before he died I shared the gospel with him again. He left twelve children.
An elderly couple, the Husband of whom was blind, had been coming to church on a regular basis. For some weeks he was complaining of painful legs. Suddenly one evening he died. He had in the past made a profession. We pray that the wife, Mrs Mumba, will look to the God of all comfort and be saved. It is traditional that the brothers of the deceased are the heirs. They have removed all Mr Mumba’s possessions and she has been put out of the house.
Pray with us for wisdom as we minister to the orphans, widows and other vulnerable people.
FAMILY NEWS
--We praise the LORD for two new grand-sons, Matthew Greyling and Daniel Bird.
Another couple of arrows at the gate to shoot at the enemy. Psalm 127.4-5
As the LORD says, ‘Children's children are the crown of old men;’ (Proverbs 17:6)
--Pray for John as he starts a new term at Tech.
--Bemba language is coming along. On the way to a Bible Study I heard two children speaking in Bemba saying, ‘That’s the white man who has no hair.’ Fortunately for them there are no she- bears in Kitwe.
