DAVID & WENDY KAUFMANN ZAMBIA
PRAYER LETTER APRIL 2005
Greetings in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ who hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.(Isaiah 25.4) We have learnt many lessons this year about simply rejoicing in Christ Jesus and having no confidence in the flesh. We thank you very much for your prayers to usward and your financial support knowing that God is able to finish His work here in Kitwe.
SOME NEW OUTREACHES TO THE COMMUNITY.
VIDEO
Once a month we have been showing a video with a salvation message.
FEEDING THE VULNERABLE
The church has undertaken to deliver food to the faithful widows, orphans and the sick on a limited basis. This has been a source of great blessing as we help the less fortunate.
CLEAN WATER
Water kiosks supplying council water have been built within the compounds but unfortunately payment to water-sellers is so paltry that the kiosks remain closed.
We are supplementing two young men’s incomes who are keeping three kiosks open so that the people can have access to this water. The kiosks have presented good opportunities to witness.
AFTERNOON SPORTS
Some of our young adults who have a burden for the youth have started playing football and netball on a few afternoons per week. Some of the afternoons include a short devotional time.
CHURCH THIEF.
It is possible to have church mice, so why not a church thief?
Most of you know about the theft from our church some months ago. Our main suspect is a man who came to church for the last time on the Friday before the theft. He has since disappeared but we do know that he offered some of our goods for sale prior to running away.
With the love offerings of some churches we now have a very thief-proof (20 locks) building.
Thanks for all your prayers.
NEW BUILDING.
The inside of the building is now so much more workable but the rooms and main hall requires filling in with shelves, cupboards etc.
Our aim this year will be to plaster and paint walls and to fit shelving, cupboards etc into some rooms.
John, while he was still around, managed to obtain about 50 old desk frames for the church.
The frames have been repainted and we now are in the process of screwing in wooden seats and tops. These will go into Sunday School rooms.
Little by little we are landscaping the ground around the church. As we clear an area we encourage the younger children to play on the new patch to flatten it.
FAMILY NEWS.
Praise the LORD.
< p class="h1">REMEMBER MWABA PHIRI?
Mwaba is the young man (14) who could not leave his house for over three years. He is now coming regularly to church and has introduced some of his relatives and friends into the church. He is still weak but coming along. Mwaba is still living with a colostomy bag but LORD willing will be having another operation in June to assess whether to reattach his colon.
Mwaba is thankful to the LORD for his life
