‘For the Lord gives wisdom and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.’ Proverbs 2 v 6

It’s Begun!

Thirteen students and two teachers started work on Monday 12thJanuary. By the end of the first week some children were heard to say: “Iwish I could have come to this school ages ago.” So theyenjoyed themselves! Lessons start at 8am after  assembly, andcontinue until 10:00 when there is half an hour’s break. Then itsback to class until lunch at 12:30. Afternoon classes start at 2pmand continue until 3:20pm. The older students have a short breakfollowed by an hour for Prep before leaving at 4:30. Morninglessons include the usual subjects of Maths, English, Scripture,Science, History and Geography etc., while in the afternoon friendsfrom the local area come to help with Music, Art, Swimming,Design and Technology, Computer Studies and Gardening. Thereis a lot of interest in the local community and we have had to starta waiting list for applicants. We will be able to take more studentswhen we have more teachers. Some have shown an interest butwe need more to join us on a long term basis.

Plans for the second term.

(3rd May – 23rd July)

We will be able to hold classes in thenew school building but the boarderswill stay in their presentaccommodation as we have no houseparents yet. Please pray that the Lordwill speak to those He wants to take upthis important role.

Comments from the students:

“Things I like about ACS are reading books from the Library, English and P.E. lessons.”

“I miss my friends from my other school but I like swimming and the afternoon lessons.”

“I like having the weekends at home.”

“I enjoy ACS because it is a proper Christian School. You can tell the teachers are Christians by the way they live.”

During half term a couple of children were asking when they could go back to school!

Comments from the staff:

“The Lord has blessed us SO much. He hasanswered many prayers so things have gonesmoothly this term. We can only keep going iffriends pray for us and we keep trusting Him. Thedays are long with lots of work to do but I enjoy thework; knowing it is having a spiritual effect in thechildren’s lives makes it all worthwhile.”

“It’s been a big challenge teaching all the differentsubjects in different age groups but the LORD hashelped us get started. Through all the difficulties,He has shown again and again that this school isHis will.”

Update from the building site.

The team is working flat out to prepare classrooms foruse in May. The dorm parents’ accommodation isnearly finished, looking smart that visitors havecommented that they’d like to live there! A SouthAfrican company has offered to provide and refurbishcontainers for use as classrooms. The foundations arebeing prepared which can be used for the Primaryschool buildings once the containers are no longer needed.
